DEDA-SHVILI AN RAME AR ARIS ARASODES BOLOMDE BNELI is a work of commemoration of and loving homage to Nutsa Gogoberidze, Georgia's first female filmmaker. In 1937, she was sent into exile for 10 years for being the wife of an "enemy of the people" during the Stalinist purges, and after her return she was never able to resume her film career or speak about her films. Carried by the haunting voice of Lana Gogoberidze, the film not only conveys the personal fate of a child who lost her mother, but also that of a woman who, along with her films, was forgotten by (film) history. What can provide comfort and vitality in such a life are human encounters, art and poetry. Lana Gogoberidze not only draws on photographs and memories, but also searches for traces of her mother in her own films. The personal and collective writing of history also takes place in the cinema. (al)
